What do you know about Molly Brown

MaKenna came home from school a few weeks ago and said she had to do a research project on a famous Colorado person.  Her person was - Molly Brown.  I instantly got excited and called for a Family Movie Night.  We watched the Unsinkable Molly Brown (compliments of Amazon Prime).  I enjoyed it and loved watching it again after so many years.  The boys thought it was "funny" and MaKenna said it was ok. She watched it to learn about Molly - I had to make sure she knew that most of it was probably made up and not real.  It gave her something to compare against as she did her research.  We were able to go and do some on-site research at the Molly Brown House in Denver.  We had a great time.

Today was the big presentation day. She had to dress up like Molly and show at least 5 items that related to their person.  The 1st picture we took at the Molly Brown House in Denver, the others are from her presentation today. When I asked MaKenna which Molly Brown she wanted to dress up like - the one before gold or the one after gold.  She quickly responded - the rich one!

Meet Barner the robot

Kyler had an assignment to build a robot.  He had to name it and answer a couple questions about it.

It had to have a body, head, eyes, mouth, and a control panel.  Extra credit was given for additional body parts.  We used those sticky stretchy hands for hands, red cups for legs, bottle caps for eyes and on/ off buttons, wrapping paper tubes for his jets, and pipe cleaner for an antenna.

O ya - we had red ribbon streamers coming out of the jets.

The three adjectives that describe my robot:

Fast

good catcher

Three things my robot likes to do:

play football

he likes to read books

run

Three things my robot likes to do for me:

Take care of my animals

do my chores

do my homework

I love my robot because:

he plays with me

Star Spangled Banner

Following in Jake's footsteps - MaKenna joined the fall Range View Choir.  This meant that she would be able to sing the national anthem at the Colorado Eagles Hockey game!

Here it is...

Now that choir is over - she starts the Range View News Team; as an anchor of course.  She is quite the social butterfly.  (She just has to know what is going on with everyone at all times.)

7 Years ago...

Well, I know where I was 7 years ago - do you know where you were?

I was at Poudre Valley Hospital welcoming our surprise child into the world.  Seven years ago I couldn't imagine what it would be like to have 3 kids!  Now, we can't imagine life without the little squirt.  Well, ok, on occasion Steve and I do wonder what it would be like without any kids.  We are of course very thankful and happy to have the 3 brats, I mean wonderful children we do have.

OK - About Kyler. He is growing and is a great little boy.  He loves animals and is my little Farmer Jones.  He wants to do anything and everything his older brother does.  He loves the football, especially the Oregon Ducks. He loves baseball - specifically the Rockies.

Birthday Present

Steve and I gave him Skylanders for the Wii U early (last week).  MaKenna and Jake surprised him with 2 new Skylander action figures this morning.  I really don't know much about the game, but he was sure happy to get it.

Birthday Dinner

 One of my favorite traditions growing up was picking my birthday dinner.  Grandma would always make "Favorite meat", mashed potatoes, and "Favorite Gravy".  Kyler's go to meal is Chicken Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and broccoli. He had already eaten the broccoli by the time I got my camera.

For his birthday cake he wanted a football.  We made the inside camo looking.  I would post a picture of it but you wouldn't be able to see it (since its camo).

This morning Kyler said this WAS. THE. BEST. BIRTHDAY. EV-ER! It snowed last night - just for him.

Early Bird Invite...

Saturday Jan 19th, Severance Middle School (Jake's Middle School) hosted the 1st wrestling tournament of the middle school season.  Severance had never done one with 9 schools - guess they didn't anticipate the number of kids attending...

Jake and I headed to the school at 6:15AM.  He needed to be there early to weigh in and I needed to help setup and get things going.  I didn't realize that we would be there all day!  The tournament wrapped up a little after 10PM.  Once all the matches were done and everyone left we started cleaning up and moving mats. I was thankful we only had a 5 minute drive home. 

Jake did an excellent job in his first ever Middle School Wrestling tournament. His matches went like this: 

1. Pin, 2. Pin, 3. Lost, 4. Pin, 5. Lost

We'll be busy for the next couple months as this season he will have 6 tournaments and 8 duals.
